Release time:2025-09-21 10:22:11

In any industrial setting, workplace safety is a critical concern. Among the various safety protocols implemented, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety procedures stand out as one of the most effective means to protect workers from hazardous energy while maintaining, repairing, or servicing equipment. The goal of LOTO safety is to prevent accidents caused by the unexpected release of energy or the accidental startup of machinery during maintenance. This article explores the importance of LOTO safety, its key components, and its implementation in workplace environments.

    What is LOTO Safety?
LOTO safety is a set of procedures used to ensure that hazardous energy sources are properly controlled during maintenance or service activities. The primary focus of LOTO is on the management of energy sources, such as electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, thermal, or chemical, which could pose risks to workers if not properly controlled. When these energy sources are not securely isolated, workers may face the danger of sudden machinery startup, pressure release, or other unintended consequences that could result in serious injuries or fatalities.
The LOTO process involves two main actions:
